International Express Money Order (IEMO)

A. General

  1. What is International Express Money Order (IEMO)?

    Sending and receiving of money to and from Malaysia and other participating countries:

    Sending Money (to): Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Bangladesh
    Receiving Money (from): Indonesia and Cambodia

    The benefits are as follows:

    • Cash to cash
    • Cheap, fixed fee -only RM8.48 (round up to RM8.50)
    • Secure
    • Fast (within the same day)

  2. Who uses IEMO service?
    • Indonesians / Vietnamese / Cambodian / Bangladeshis who are  working / living / studying in Malaysia
    • Malaysians working/living/studying in Indonesia / Vietnam / Cambodia / Bangladesh.
    • Travelers in emergency and require immediate cash

B. Sending money from Malaysia

  1. What do I need to provide to conduct an IEMO transfer?

    You need the following document and information

    • Original and a copy of passport (for non-Malaysia citizen)
      or
      Original and a copy of MYKAD/Army/Police identity card (for Malaysia citizen)
    • Your Receiver’s details
      • Name
      • Address
      • Telephone number + ID Number (Passport or Identity Card)
      • Secret code
      • Completed IEMO Send Money Order form (Pos MO 20) → available at all Pos Malaysia Outlets

  2. What do I do next?

    Sender to inform Receiver :

    • That transfer of money has been done/completed; and
    • Two (2) important information to claim the money :
      • International Identifier number; and
      • Secret code
    • To claim the money within 30 days

  3. Is this service available at all Pos Malaysia Outlets?

    Yes. The service is available at all Pos Malaysia outlets.

  4. For money transfer, what is the mode of payment to my receiver?

    Cash and is paid in local currency of the country.

  5. What is the maximum limit allowed for IEMO transfer?

    The maximum limit per person per transaction is RM5,000.00, with maximum of RM50,000 per customer per day.

  6. Will my beneficiary receive the exact amount I intend to send to them?

    No, the amount receive will not be the exact amount as it depends on the currency exchange during the time the beneficiary claims the money at the PO or service point.

  7. What should I do if the recipient did not claim the money?

    In the event the fund is not collected within 30 days, sender can submit claim form (which available at all Pos Malaysia Outlets) for reimbursement. Payment will be made within 7 days from the submission received.


    Note: Refund is for principal amount only and based on currency exchange rate during payment made. Fee paid is not refundable.

  8. How quickly will the funds be available to my receiver?

    Same day

  9. What is the fee like?

    Only RM8.48 (round up to RM8.50) flat (any amount).

C. Receiving money in Malaysia

  1. Where can I collect the IEMO transfer?

    You can collect the money at any Pos Malaysia outlets.

  2. What do I need to provide to receive IEMO transfer?

    You need to provide the following document/information :

    • Original & a copy Passport (for non-Malaysia citizen)
      or
      Original & a copy of MYKAD/Army/Police identity card (for Malaysia citizen)
    • Completed IEMO Send Money Order form (Pos MO 20) → available at all Pos Malaysia Outlets (to be provided by Sender)
    • International Identifier Number (to be provided by Sender)

  4. Will I receive the exact amount send by sender?

    No, the amount received will depend on currency exchange when you claim at Pos Malaysia outlets.

    Cash and in local currency i.e. Ringgit Malaysia (RM).

  6. Is there any fee charged to receiver?

    No, there is no fee charged to the receiver.

    • Your own death or bodily injury;
    • Your liability against claims from your passengers;

    • Consequential loss, depreciation, wear and tear, mechanical or technical breakdown failures or breakages; and
    • Loss/damage arising from an act of nature, e.g. flood, lanslide.
  • However, you may pay additional premium to cover some of the above exclusions,
    e.g. floods or your liability against claims from your passengers
  • Windscreen and vehicle accessories coverage are includes an extension in considering and preserving your No-Claim-Discount (NCD) in the event of loss/damage. You can check for other exclusions and extension covers available with your insurance agent or company.
