Help and Tips For Postcode Searching

Postcode Finder is a place for you to search for a postcode for any location within Malaysia.  You are advised to select ‘state’ first for a more accurate result. Otherwise, the result may come out in hundreds or more because the search text may becomes the common text. It is because some of the location use the same name but in different state.

The state selection is not compulsory, but if you don't select any state, the search will include every state and the result will take time to come out

After you key-in the search text in the Location Column, you have to tick which search method from 3 Radio Button provided because each one will perform different kind of search method.


Location Colums

Location Columns is where you should enter the name of the location which postcode you wish to locate. The name should be precise and correct but if you are not sure about the spelling, you should enter part of it but it must be more than 3 characters.

e.g :
If you want to search a postcode for "Banggol", you are also allowed to type "Bangg" but your selection for 'search type' should be on "Search location stating with search text" or "search for location containing with search text".



Common Text

Common text is the most used text for a location in Malaysia such as "Jalan", "Kampung", "Sungai", "Bukit", "Lorong" and "Taman". You are not permitted to use any of these text in the search but instead you have to uses the most complete name of the location. For Example, if you want to find a postcode for "Jalan Kolam Air", you are allowed to enter the string "Jalan Kolam" or "Kolam Air" only for search postcode.

Search Method (Radio Button)

The three Radio Button is a compulsory because it can helps you to trim down the result of your search especially for a search text that you are not sure about the spelling.

Tips :

Button 1 - 'Full text search'
For exact search if you assured the correct and precise text

Button 2 - 'Search for location starting with search text'
For a location name that you are sure only the beginning part of it, for instance, you want to search a location in 'Kedah', starting with "Banggol", but you are not sure the exact spelling of it, you can type only "Bangg", and tick on Button 2, then the system will display the list of places starting with word "Bangg" like below: .

Button 3 - 'Search for location containing with search text'
If you type "Banggol" and the 'state' is Kedah, then you click on button 3, the system will display the list of all places containing text "Banggol" in Kedah.

For you that know the postcode but do not know the locations, Location Finder is the place for you. Just enter the postcode; it must be a combination of five number and then click on "Search"




How to write address on the envelope

The address on the envelope is the address of the receiver and it must appear in the middle of the envelope with a clear and easy to read writing. Usually the address consists of:
            
Receiver name
House Number/Lot Number/Floor and Building Name
Street Name/District
Postcode and the city
The State


For example:
Ahmad Bin Gh azali
75 Kg Sg Ramal Luar
43000 Kajang
Selangor

For a letter to personal P.O. Box, the number of the P.O. Box must be before the postcode:

For Lock Bag, the number of the Lock Bag must be before the postcode also, for example:
